Dream aquarium for windows 104/16/2024 The swimming actions of the fish are particularly realistic as they nibble bits of food, dart in and out of coral and even chase each other.ĭream Aquarium is one of the most realistic desktop application that brings the beauty of a lush freshwater aquarium to your computer with perfect realism. This is the best 3D aquarium and highly-configurable Windows screensaver that creates a virtual aquarium on your desktop, comprising multiple species of fish to better simulate underwater life. Whatever it is, the level of realism in terms of graphics, movement and stunningly bright colors is impressive. The developer of Dream Aquarium Screensaver calls it a 'next-generation' aquarium screensaver but doesn't explain what they've done to make it so. I have had this screen saver on every PC OPSYS since Windows 7, including Windows 10 for the past 2 or 3 years. For the people who complain that it does not work in windows 10, get a geek to fix it for you. The person on one site that compained there was no control of the screen saver timing and sleep mode needs to go to their PC settings where there is full control of all screen savers, including Dream Aquarium. Since there is a limited amount of computers licened by the $19.95 fee I have GLADLY paid for this screen saver 4 times. ![]() ![]() The people complaining about nag screens in the free version just need to pay the price which is WELL worth every penny. I have installed it on over 25 computers including all the computers at my business. I have owned this screen saver for 12 years. The free version slows down the pc a lot which does not happen with other types of screensaver and after showing different types of aquarium there are only 2 fishes to swim on the black screen without showing the background of the aquarium itself so I deleted it after a short time and it was a real disappointment. You can adjust the air bubbles floating up to the surface, along with the speed of the fish, and even the background image can be replaced with any image on your hard drive, like a family photo. Anyone interested in filling the screen undersea life should give this download a shot.ĭesigned by Alan Kapler, a special effects artist and animator who has previously worked on Hollywood blockbusters such as Titanic, X-Men and The Day After Tomorrow, Dream Aquarium is one of the most realistic freshwater aquarium screensavers on the market.īy default, the camera position is static, showing you the full aquarium, but you can opt to have it follow one fish in particular, or several fish chosen randomly. While its lack of direction for controlling the program was annoying, it wasn't enough to deter us from the spectacular graphics and options for the aquarium. Throughout the extensive Options menu we only found one vague command to set when the aquarium appears, and oddly, this was only when the computer was running on battery. While it seems like every opportunity was taken for users to control the tank, the designers neglected to give them as much control over when the screensaver operates. Users can choose between seven different aquariums, different fish, lighting, and can even feed the fish. The program's options are the highlight of the program once the menu is accessed. Up to six species of sea creatures (the trial limits the tank to six) move in realistic ways and look lifelike, whether they are brightly colored angelfish or crabs scurrying about on the sea floor. But the actual fish tank action is impressive. The program has a somewhat confusing interface that requires the user to right-click on the aquarium as it's running in order to access the Options menu. In any case, the aquarium window doesn't close. ![]() ![]() If you want to terminate the program you may have to kill it from DxWnd kill command or from the task manager.Īlso, on this computer I have some video flickering of the aquarium background, probably because of the different video card. This configuration has the side effect to make deaf dialog messages, so that when you click on, let's say, the OK button nothing happens. I just tried now the screensaver on a genuine Win7 machine with 2 monitors, and the suggested configuration (default + "Do not notify on task switch") works as it should, when I click on other windows the screensaver window doesn't close.
